the ConfigServer Firewall package) about failing to find some added check line it was sending to syslog. The syslog message looks like this: lfd[%d]: *SYSLOG CHECK* Failed to detect check line [%s] sent to SYSLOG
Of course I've replaced the pid with %d and the check string that it's looking for with %s, since that will vary. The fix is simple. Just like how you may need to adjust the path in /etc/csf/csf.conf to the real location of the ipset binary, you also may need to set where your SYSLOG messages are going. On an https://www.drupal.org/node/1850034 Ubuntu system, that means /var/log/syslog rather than /var/log/messages. Then just run csf -r to restart LFD with the new settings. UPDATE: /var/log/messages appears in more than just csf.conf. Since /var/log/messages doesn't exist on my system, I'm just going to symlink it to syslog and see what happens. UPDATE 2: OK, I thought better of it and just modified csf.syslogs and csf.logfiles. I deleted that messages symlink in /var/log next. https://www.devolve.net/blog/2015/04/07/fix-for-lfd-error-in-syslog/ LFD was still being a little bitch after I restarted using csf -r, so I ran service lfd stop and then started it again. Fix for LFD error in syslog is original content from Devolve. This uses the file /etc/rsyslog.conf which references the file configuration /etc/rsyslog.d/50-default.conf. Upon checking, I came to lots of lines in my log file which I am trying to make sense of. I am worried if my server has already been contaminated but this might as well be just some malfunctioning somewhere related to lfd or clamav. The alerts I get in my mails range from clamav Exceeded: 1614931 > 1800 (seconds) to lfd checking SYSLOG Check Error: Failed to detect code [EsURjDjwAT2x4XA] in SYSLOG_LOG [/var/log/messages] I also get the following lines in my log file high are related to my dns. I did not sea these errors before and I do not have any ideas why I get the network unreachable errors. Why does my server try to resolve to these addresses at all? Code: Oct 23 11:39:03 server named: error (network unreachable) resolving './DNSKEY/IN': 2001:503:ba3e::2:30#53 Oct 23 11:39:03 server named: error (network unreachable) resolving './NS/IN': 2001:503:ba3e::2:30#53 Oct 23 11:39:03 server named: error (network unreachable) resolving 'dlv.isc.org/DNSKEY/IN': 2001:500:48::1#53 Oct 23 11:39:03 server named: error (network unreachable) resolvingNo related pages.

A Windows error is an error that happens when an unexpected condition occurs or when a desired operation has failed. When you have an error in Windows, it may be critical and cause your programs to freeze and crash or it may be seemingly harmless yet annoying.
A stop error screen or bug check screen, commonly called a blue screen of death (also known as a BSoD, bluescreen), is caused by a fatal system error and is the error screen displayed by the Microsoft Windows family of operating systems upon encountering a critical error, of a non-recoverable nature, that causes the system to "crash".
One of the biggest causes of DLL's becoming corrupt/damaged is the practice of constantly installing and uninstalling programs. This often means that DLL's will get overwritten by newer versions when a new program is installed, for example. This causes problems for those applications and programs that still need the old version to operate. Thus, the program begins to malfunction and crash.
Computer hanging or freezing occurs when either a program or the whole system ceases to respond to inputs. In the most commonly encountered scenario, a program freezes and all windows belonging to the frozen program become static. Almost always, the only way to recover from a system freeze is to reboot the machine, usually by power cycling with an on/off or reset button.
Once your computer has been infected with a virus, it's no longer the same. After removing it with your anti-virus software, you're often left with lingering side-effects. Technically, your computer might no longer be infected, but that doesn't mean it's error-free. Even simply removing a virus can actually harm your system.
