Okay, this is the error I am getting after installing my new power supply. The fan in the power supply is running I can hear and see it turning. What exactly is the chassis fan? Is that the one that is on the mother board? If so, what steps do I need to take to correct this problem? My computer model is a Compaq Presario 5415WM. It has an Intel Pentium 4 1.5 GHz processor and 896
meg of RAM. The rest of the hardware in the computer is original except for the video card and the slave drive. The power supply that I purchases comes from a third party company because the wonderful knowledgeable people at HP couldn't give me the answers I needed. The power supply specifications are 235 watt, steady state, power factor correction (PFC). The one that I purchased is an original from the model of computer I have but is refurbished. Like I said before, however, it does work because when I plugged in the computer it began whirring away as soon as the computer was turned on. When I get this error (514 CPU or Chassis Fan Not Detected) I can not do anything. It gives me the option to boot from F1, do a network boot from F12 or modify the settings at F10. If I choose F1 it will begin to check a GUID number but comes back "non system disk, replace or insert correct disk." There are no disks in the computer that would be causing this and I did try to see if booting with the Recovery CD would work, but it caused a screen to come up that said, "Call HP Tech Support." This is definitely not on my top ten things of fun things to do at the moment. I did search for this problem and found one threa

ByLusiphur220 Jun 1, 2006 Well, For the last couple weeks now I've been fighting with my compaq. I've managed to fix one problem and create a new one. Compaq 5430US Pentium 4 1.8Ghz 1Gig DDR Ram Apparently my CPU was overheating before due to a thick layer of dust build up. fan not To fix this I pulled the Heat Sink Fan (HSF) out and blasted all the dust from it. I then replaced it and it worked fine for about 2 days. After those 2 days my comp proceeded to just shut itself off. I've been told that I might have touched the thermal silicone on the bottom of the HSF, and to verify this I removed the fan again and removed all remaining silicone from both the CPU and the HSF, then I reapplied a new layer. This fan not detected didn't fix the problem. After that I was told to try checking the fan connections. Been there, done that. Even checked them in the BIOS. After 2 weeks of fighting with one problem I get "514-CPU or Chassis Fan not Detected" at start up. Both fans are running and the comp boots fine, but then it gives me that error and the option to boot with F1. Any ideas? Jun 1, 2006 #1 Lusiphur220 TS Rookie Topic Starter As it seems my problems just got a whole lot worse. Now I can't even get pass the Compaq start up load screen. The one that comes up first and says "COMPAQ" in red letters. Jun 1, 2006 #2 (You must log in or sign up to reply here.) Show Ignored Content Topic Status: Not open for further replies. A Windows error is an error that happens when an unexpected condition occurs or when a desired operation has failed. When you have an error in Windows, it may be critical and cause your programs to freeze and crash or it may be seemingly harmless yet annoying.
A stop error screen or bug check screen, commonly called a blue screen of death (also known as a BSoD, bluescreen), is caused by a fatal system error and is the error screen displayed by the Microsoft Windows family of operating systems upon encountering a critical error, of a non-recoverable nature, that causes the system to "crash".
One of the biggest causes of DLL's becoming corrupt/damaged is the practice of constantly installing and uninstalling programs. This often means that DLL's will get overwritten by newer versions when a new program is installed, for example. This causes problems for those applications and programs that still need the old version to operate. Thus, the program begins to malfunction and crash.
Computer hanging or freezing occurs when either a program or the whole system ceases to respond to inputs. In the most commonly encountered scenario, a program freezes and all windows belonging to the frozen program become static. Almost always, the only way to recover from a system freeze is to reboot the machine, usually by power cycling with an on/off or reset button.
Once your computer has been infected with a virus, it's no longer the same. After removing it with your anti-virus software, you're often left with lingering side-effects. Technically, your computer might no longer be infected, but that doesn't mean it's error-free. Even simply removing a virus can actually harm your system.
Reimage repairs and replaces all critical Windows system files needed to run and restart correctly, without harming your user data. Reimage also restores compromised system settings and registry values to their default Microsoft settings. You may always return your system to its pre-repair condition.

The online database is comprised of over 25,000,000 updated essential components that will replace any damaged or missing file on a Windows operating system with a healthy version of the file so that your PC's performance, stability & security will be restored and even improve.
