"bind: Address already in use" Dear bind address already in use linux friends, I'm very new to Ubuntu and not very firm with the terminal syntax and system settings yet. I hope someone can advice me on two issues regarding SSH and the secure use of scripts in the terminal. So yesterday I sucessfully set up a ssh tunnel with PuTTY SSH Client defining Source Pourt and Destination under -> SSH ->Tunnels. And today I tried to do the same but using the build-in SSH client in the terminal. I entered the following syntax: ssh -f -L 5432:localhost:5433 someAccountname@someIPaddress sleep 10 I was prompted to enter a password. After entering the password the following error message appeared: "bind: Address already in use" So I guessed that PuTTY was still using the local port. After deinstalling PuTTY the same errormessage came up and after reinstalling PuTTY all configuration was still there. So I guess that PuTTY somehow changes a config file that controls sistemwide port-uses. So first:Is this right and can I change that file in order to be abled to use the terminal client? And second: I would like to use the terminal client since this enables me to write a script and avoid annoying clicking and providing logincredentials every time I want to connect to the server. So is there a

Recently I tried to install a memory module into the machine only to find that after I turned it on, the machine would not already in boot normally. It would take upwards of 45 mintues just to boot! As soon as it started to boot abnormally I removed the memory module from the machine only discovering that it would take this amount of time to boot. I tried several times and each time it took the better part of an hour. Luckily I had another machine that was just like it! So I popped the hard drive out of the slow booting machine and already in use then popped it into another one. Pretty soon my beloved CentOS box was booting as rapidly as it ever had and was seeming back to it's own self. BUT!!!!You could SSH out FROM the machine but no longer could you SSH **IN**!! Odd!SSH out:Code: Select all[bluethundr@lcent5-1:~]$:ssh bsd2

Jan28,2011,8:38AM Post #1 of 2 (7746 views) Permalink ssh -g -L => bind: Address already in use, but it works anyway Hi, I'm trying to use ssh for port forwarding. So far ssh -L has worked just fine for that purpose. Now I want to bind the port to all interfaces, so I tried ssh -g -L. The SSH session seems to launch successfully, and the port is forwarded as expected, and it is bound to all interfaces. However, I get an error message as the remote session is launched: "bind: Address already in use". I also tried ssh -b but ssh still complains "Address already in use". I have verified that that there actually isn't any other process using the port I want. I can't find any additional info in /var/log/messages or elsewhere in /var/log/. Since the port forwarding seems to work, I'm not too worried about it, but I'd like to understand what's going on. Any ideas? ssh on the client reports its version as "OpenSSH_3.9p1, OpenSSL 0.9.7a Feb 19 2003" and sshd on the server is openssh-server-4.5p1-6.fc7 as reported by rpm. Thanks for your help, Robert Dodier PS. Here is a debug log. There is more to to it, but I cut it off at "Address already in use". $ ssh -vvv -g -L 1069:*:1069 192.168.0.25 OpenSSH_3.9p1, OpenSSL 0.9.7a Feb 19 2003 debug1: Reading configuration data /etc/ssh/ssh_config debug1: Applying options for * debug2: ssh_connect: needpriv 0 debug1: Connecting to 192.168.0.25 [192.168.0.25] port 22. debug1: Connection established. debug1: identity file /home/robertdodier/.ssh/identity type -1 debug3: Not a RSA1 key file /home/robertdodier/.ssh/id_rsa. debug2: key_type_from_name: unknown key type '-----BEGIN' debug3: key_read: missing keytype debug3: key_read: missing whitespace debug3: key_read: missing whitespace debug3: key_read: missing whitespace debug3: key_read: missing whitespace debug3: key_read: missing whitespace debug3: key_read: missing whitespace debug3: key_read: missing whitespace debug3: key_read: missing whitespace debug3: key_read: missing whitespace debug3: key_read: missing whitespace debug3: key_read: missing whitespace debug3: key_read: missing whitespace debug3: k

A Windows error is an error that happens when an unexpected condition occurs or when a desired operation has failed. When you have an error in Windows, it may be critical and cause your programs to freeze and crash or it may be seemingly harmless yet annoying.
A stop error screen or bug check screen, commonly called a blue screen of death (also known as a BSoD, bluescreen), is caused by a fatal system error and is the error screen displayed by the Microsoft Windows family of operating systems upon encountering a critical error, of a non-recoverable nature, that causes the system to "crash".
One of the biggest causes of DLL's becoming corrupt/damaged is the practice of constantly installing and uninstalling programs. This often means that DLL's will get overwritten by newer versions when a new program is installed, for example. This causes problems for those applications and programs that still need the old version to operate. Thus, the program begins to malfunction and crash.
Computer hanging or freezing occurs when either a program or the whole system ceases to respond to inputs. In the most commonly encountered scenario, a program freezes and all windows belonging to the frozen program become static. Almost always, the only way to recover from a system freeze is to reboot the machine, usually by power cycling with an on/off or reset button.
Once your computer has been infected with a virus, it's no longer the same. After removing it with your anti-virus software, you're often left with lingering side-effects. Technically, your computer might no longer be infected, but that doesn't mean it's error-free. Even simply removing a virus can actually harm your system.
Reimage repairs and replaces all critical Windows system files needed to run and restart correctly, without harming your user data. Reimage also restores compromised system settings and registry values to their default Microsoft settings. You may always return your system to its pre-repair condition.
Reimage patented technology, is the only PC Repair program of its kind that actually reverses the damage done to your operating system. The online database is comprised of over 25,000,000 updated essential components that will replace any damaged or missing file on a Windows operating system with a healthy version of the file so that your PC's performance, stability & security will be restored and even improve. The repair will deactivate then quarantine all Malware found then remove virus damage. All System Files, DLLs, and Registry Keys that have been corrupted or damaged will be replaced with new healthy files from our continuously updated online database.
